Touchwood Theatre present ’Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ as this year’s pantomime. This company certainly know a thing or two when it comes to producing a successful show. They aren’t afraid to involve the audience and always seem to be having so much fun. The fabulous Christmas spirit evident in the cast is totally infectious and you will soon find yourself bopping along to their songs and dances.
The adorable seven dwarfs absolutely stole the show. These young actors ranged from 10 years old to just 5 ¾. They were just as professional as their fellow adult actors and spoke with perfect diction. The dwarfs joyfully sang ‘Hi Ho’ and handled the wordier sections of the song with ease. It was also clear to see that Shannah Russell playing Snow White was a hit with the little ones. They gleefully danced and sang with their new house guest and had lovely on-stage chemistry.
Credit to Ryan Procter, Musical Director who had creatively used a pre-recorded track to accompany the live band. This gave a fuller sound and complemented the musicians without overshadowing them.
We were also treated to the talents of Jessica Ball as the Mirror. She spoke in rhymes to the Queen who asked if she was the fairest of them all (you all know how the story goes!). The song choices throughout this performance added interest to the story. The lyrics of ‘You’re So Vain’ sung by the Mirror to the Queen were particularly amusing and Jessica sung this song beautifully.
Overall Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs had everything you would hope to find at the pantomime from the dame to the fairy godmother. If you are looking for a helping hand to get into the Christmas spirit then spend an evening with Touchwood Theatre Company.
