You’ve seen Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman in animated form and now they have come to life! City Of Plymouth Youth Theatre Company present ‘Madagascar Jr’, the all singing, all dancing, and all roaring show.
This fast-paced musical has hit the Devonport Playhouse stage and there is no stopping these high energy performers so if you are looking for feel-good entertainment from a group of talented youngsters then don’t miss your chance to see this sweet show.
From the smallest of the penguins to the tallest of the giraffes, children of all ages dressed up in their colourful animal costumes to bring fun dancing, singing and acting to the stage. The choreography in this show will have you grooving in your seat, with every member of the cast enjoying a boogie along to the songs.
Marty the zebra longs for adventure and escapes from New York Zoo in search of The Wild. Harry Sykes as Marty gave a fantastic performance. He had the perfect attitude for the part of this cool zebra and a charming singing voice too.
Along with his friends, he finds himself in Madagascar where King Julien (Harriet Tyson) rules over the other animals with her assistant, Maurice (Claudia Green). This pair made a great double act and certainly made the audience laugh with their interactions. Harriet Tyson showed great stamina in singing and keeping up a high energy dance routine with the cast, during ‘I Like To Move It’. This song is instantly recognisable from the film and the cast of Madagascar Jr performed a fabulous rendition complete with funky slick dance moves.
This show is a great choice for Jr companies, with plenty of ensemble numbers to give the opportunity to show off the talents of these young actors.
